A special day
Yesterday was special I achieved some great photos with the help of a friend. My diary said for yesterday I was going to Diane’s to stitch on a UFO, we both needed to finish our gold work piece the Huia feather and thought stitching together might get us both motivated to work towards finishing.
I knew that in Diane’s lawn was a lovely patch of Daisies and asked if the lawn mowing man had not cut them all off could I get a quick photo of the dolls sitting in the daisies. It did not end up a quick photo, but what fun we had. To get good photos I needed to be right down at ground level lying on my tummy, however instead of getting just one shot Diane became my assistant and moved the dolls as needed so I did nor have to get up and down, and my favourite photo of the day was not planned… Poppy in a patch of buttercups.

Bird gifts
The exchange gifts for the Guild Christmas party needed to be handmade, both Caitlin and I chose to do a bird Christmas Decoration. Mine was this Robin with holly and berries sitting on a large jingle bell.
Caitlin’s sweet little bird was on a background of gold glitter felt. I think she really enjoyed stitching this piece.

Here are the dresses they are going with Millie, I will make some extra dresses for when she comes with Eve to visit and can take home a new dress, I wonder if there are enough photos to make Millie her own book.

The Past Week
I have so enjoyed the lovely bunch of peony Roses, changing colours as they open they are now a soft gold shade, Peonies have a vase life of 7-10 days, these ones have been amazing, from being picked, packed and sent to the market and from there to the florists would have taken at least 2 days, and I have had the enjoyment of them for 9 days longer than I could have expected. So Special.
A little Christmas stitching, Robins have been the theme at present. These are for a gift box for the guild Christmas party.the other Robin piece I will show after it has gone to a new home.

Special welcome to the new month.
I had a lovely start to the new month, first this beautiful bunch of peonies roses arrived , and they are even lovelier each day as the blooms continue to open.
They were followed by another beautiful bouquet of blooms this time a selection for me to make an arrangement with ,
I just noticed when I posted the photo how the mignonette has moved to follow the light since I did the arrangement. This year has brought an abundance of these plants, all flowering well and surviving the battering from the strong winds.Sunday, October 27, 2024
Last photos
I was pleased to get the last photos and the book finished and ordered . First took photos of Poppy and Millie in the garden showing off their matching dresses.
Then one showing a visit to see Santa Claus. And a finally I needed one of Millie before she goes to her new home, I’m not sure that I want to say goodbye to her she really is a sweetheart … as always took plenty of photos to make a selection from and ended up using the close up one as it fitted the space better. Now to plan a new photo book project for next year.

Warm weather at last
The weather has finally improved and yesterday was a lovely sunny warm day, so spent some welcome time in the garden, I have one small patch of buttercups, yes I know they are a weed but I love their flowers so allow this one patch to continue I took Rosie out to see them and she also loved some lovely bright little violas. Took some photos so there would at least be something to go on this blog post.
I need to get the last photos taken for Eve's book as I see Snap fish has a special of 70% off photo books that expires on the 28th. Hope to post the last of the photos before the end of the month.

The Fairy Queen
Belle was to be the Fairy Queen, I wanted her dress to be more formal, to make her look more regal than the others, here is the first photos, I can see what touch up and editing is needed for the final photos, the camera often picks up small details the eye misses. Pleased with the backdrop when it first came I was disappointed it seemed so muted but for this story it is working perfectly..

The Next Project
"Look" said Poppy as she played in the pink net scraps we had been given. " Can we have fairy dresses? there is so much of it we could all have a dress, maybe Belle could be the fairy queen and Rosie, Millie and me could be her fairy court."
This was not on the plans, but when asked if I would like some fabric scraps I never say no just did not expect so much. and it would make a lovely story to add to Eve's book, so this month project will be fairy dresses. I will try to post weekly the progress.
Someone else likes the pink net too.

The Long and the Short
The sleeveless jerkin was made with the smallest scraps of both fabrics. and the final item id the jacket which is fully lined with the Liberty Fabric. August proved to be a very productive month with this set of garments. Now to decide on stitching for the new month.
