Here are the dresses they are going with Millie, I will make some extra dresses for when she comes with Eve to visit and can take home a new dress, I wonder if there are enough photos to make Millie her own book.

The Past Week

I have so enjoyed the lovely bunch of peony Roses, changing colours as they open they are now a soft gold shade,  Peonies have a vase life of 7-10 days, these ones have been amazing, from being picked, packed and sent to the market and from there to the florists would have taken at least 2 days, and I have had the enjoyment of them for 9 days longer than I could have expected. So Special.

A little Christmas stitching, Robins have been the theme at present. These are for a gift box for the guild Christmas party.the other Robin piece I will show after it has gone to a new home.

I’m now returning to my happy place needle and thread in hand making another small doll dress, I want Millie to have 6 dresses plus the fairy and the princess dress when Eve gets her. The photo book… the Adventures of Poppy which is for Eve’s birthday have arrived from Snapfish and I’m pleased with the finish result.

Will share dolls dress soon.

Special welcome to the new month.

I had a lovely start to the new month, first this beautiful bunch of peonies roses arrived , and they are even lovelier each day as the blooms continue to open.

They were followed by another beautiful bouquet of blooms this time a selection for me to make an arrangement with ,

I just noticed when I posted the photo how the mignonette has moved to follow the light since I did the arrangement. This year has brought an abundance of these plants, all flowering well and surviving the battering from the strong winds.

I'm very blessed these two lovely gifts from my family will bring me much joy.

Last photos

I was pleased to get the last photos and the book finished and ordered . First took photos of Poppy and Millie in the  garden showing off their matching dresses.

Then one showing a visit to see Santa Claus.
And a finally I needed one of Millie before she goes to her new home, I’m not sure that I want to say goodbye to her she really is a sweetheart … as always took plenty of photos  to make a selection from and ended up using the close up one as it fitted the space better.

Now to plan a new photo book project for next year.

Warm weather at last

The weather has finally improved and yesterday was a lovely sunny warm day, so spent some welcome time in the garden,  I have one small patch of buttercups, yes I know they are a weed but I love their flowers so allow this one patch to continue I took Rosie out to see them and she also loved some lovely bright little violas.  Took some photos so there would at least be something to go on this blog post.

I need to get the last photos taken for Eve's book as I see Snap fish   has a special of 70%  off photo books  that expires on the 28th. Hope to post the last of the photos before the end of the month.

The Fairy Queen

Belle was to be the Fairy Queen, I wanted her dress to be more formal, to make her look more regal than the others, here is the first photos, I can see what touch up and  editing is needed for the final photos, the camera often picks up small details the eye misses. Pleased with the backdrop when it first came I was disappointed it seemed so muted but for this story it is working perfectly..

The Next Project

"Look" said Poppy as she played in the pink net scraps we had been given.   " Can we have fairy dresses? there is so much of it we could all have a dress, maybe Belle could be the fairy queen and Rosie, Millie and me could be her fairy court."

This was not on the plans, but when asked if I would like some fabric scraps I never say no just did not expect so much. and it would make a lovely story to add to Eve's book, so this month project will be fairy dresses. I will try to post weekly the progress.

Someone else likes the pink net too.

The Long and the Short

The slacks have the same pocket as the skirt, it has proved to be an easy style to make, the shorts have a small iron on motif , I would like to add a t shirt with the same motif once I find suitable material. The short sleeve shirt was a fun make using some very small scraps, but the button proved to be a poor choice, they look fine on the blouse but don’t show up in photographs .

The sleeveless jerkin was made with the smallest scraps of both fabrics. and the final item id the jacket which is fully lined with the Liberty Fabric. August proved to be a very productive month with this set of garments. Now to decide on stitching for the new month.

More Mix and Match

Next I made a pinafore, am thrilled with how it turned out  and I still have some scraps of both fabrics left so will be adding to the set.

The last of the new miniature daffodils pots is in flower, this is Carice the trumpet is more an apricot shade and every bulb planted has two flower stems, the best display of the three different ones I bought this year. The are on the deck right by the door so i get to enjoy them every time I go out.

More flowers the lovely bouquet I was presented with yesterday.

A new start

I have started on a mix and match set. have been given fabric scraps from a friend who made herself a jacket with the fabric. She described it as...Oatmeal coloured loose woven with a subtle slivery gold metallic thread and slubs of bright colours. Reminding  her of cake sprinkles.  I Have teamed it with a Liberty Lawn fabric that there were some scraps I might add of interesting shapes and sizes.

The first pieces were made using the liberty fabric. a blouse and skirt. I have joined the blouse and petticoat together as this makes the blouse sit better and not ride up. The matching skirt gives it the look of being a dress. One of the long fabric strips was perfect for the headband.

Now a change with the oatmeal fabric skirt. is a soft blend fabric and I loved the feel and how it made up even managed to have pockets,

More pieces are planned.

Rosie and Poppy had their first outing when we recently went to visit the Ladies group from church., we had quite a fashion parade showing off all their dresses and accessories along with the photo books telling their story.

I am enjoying   the lovely display of miniature Daffodils by my door.

More adventures of Poppy

I had two days away with Jan this week, long travel means lots of chatting and lots of ideas being talked over, among them  Jan asked if I could make her an Olympic mascot for her classroom, I said yes not knowing what the mascot looked like expecting  some cute animal I found I was faced with making a hat.
I’ve made plenty of small hats,  hats for dolls and also their birthday hats and witches hats, so I guess one with legs is not much different.. here is the result.
Poppy decided she wanted her photo with the mascot before it went away, we got the photo good timing as Jan arrived then.
Then I had an idea and this is the result, what better than pretend to be in Paris.
